There are several ads from when I was much younger that really stand out. Some of them even make me feel like I am having happy thoughts about growing up. Others were simply great ads. I’ve included several of them below. I’d be interested in hearing which ads stand out from your childhood, as well as which ones you think will be memorable for our children. I’ll be sure to add them to the list.
Who doesn’t love Tootsie Rolls?
So how many licks does it take?
Tootsie Pop Commercial
What would you buy the world?
When you want something better. Where’s the beef?
So what is it that made these ads so spectacular? They were catchy, engaging and memorable. Do you feel like today’s ads can compete with these?

I love the “Where’s the Beef?” Ad from Wendys.
A Real Classic.
With Cheese! Thanks, Scott.
Thanks for posting these; they bring back great memories!
When I was a kid, I often ignored the show but was glued to the commercials. Commercials from “back in the day” seemed much more entertaining than many commercials today; many of them told a little story, or looked like a lot of effort was put into making them. One of the biggest differences I see, though, is that older commercials used jingles (or featured people singing, like the Coke ad above). Today, much of the music used in commercials is canned. Have you noticed this?
Here’s my all-time favorite commercial. Enjoy!
